Perritos de Colima/Perritos de Terracota/ colimotes/ Xoloitzcuintle/ perro pelón mexicano. Su origen es muy antiguo. Los indígenas se alimentaban con su carne, que era muy apreciada. Se le considera representante del dios "Xolotl", de quien evidentemente deriva de su nombre. Su misión era ayudar al alma de los muertos a superar los obstáculos y guiarlos hacia su destino eterno; por ello eran enterrados junto con sus amos, y se encontraron esqueletos caninos en tumbas humanas. En el estado de Colima se ha encontrado un número considerable de tumbas que en su mayoría contenían estatuas de perros de barro moldeadas a mano. Es un perro agradable; su característica principal es la ausencia total o casi total de pelo, con piel suave y tersa, su cuerpo es bien proporcionado con pecho ancho y costillar amplio, miembros y cola larga. El cuerpo es ligeramente más largo en relación a su altura. Aproximadamente de 10:9 permitiéndose las hembras ligeramente más largas.

Xoloitzcuinte/Mexican hairless dog. Its origin is very antique. The Indians fed of its meat, which was very appreciated. It was considered the representative of the god “Xolotl”, from which its name obviously derives. Its mission was to help the soul of the dead overcome the obstacles and guide them towards their eternal destination; for this they were buried together with their masters, and canine skeletons have been found in human graves. In the state of Colima, a considerable number of graves were found, which in their majority contained statues of dogs made of clay, molded by hand. It is a nice dog, its main characteristic is the total absence, or almost, of hair, with soft and terse skin; its body is well proportioned with wide chest and broad ribcage, long limbs and tail. The body is slightly longer in relation to its height, approximately 10:9, the females allowed to be a bit longer.
